| April Smith has been racing since before she ever got her driving permit. At the age of 5, her parents got her involved with four wheelers and small dirt bikes. At age 6, she started racing at the local Woodland Motocross Park on a Suzuki four wheeler in the Junior class. She had a taste of competition that she could never let go of. | ||||||
| Her first real drive in a car was in 1996 with her 1974 Plymouth Barracuda at the Woodburn Dragstrip Mopar Nationals. In 1998 she ran her first year at PIR in the points series in high school class. That year, she placed 3rd behind Amber Force and Susan Chun. | ||||||
| The following year, April and her dad purchased a 1970 Plymouth Duster and raced Pro class for 2 years at PIR for the Wednesday Night Drags points series. Running 11.10's at 118mph, April placed runner up at the end of the points season in 2000 and 2001. | ||||||
| Another nod to her driving skills lander her in Jack Russel's Pontiac Grand Am racing in Boise, ID in the Sportsman class as a fill-in for another racer. | ||||||
| Around 2002, April discovered Rally Cross and competed in the Production Class taking various event wins and finishing twice Second in the Championship Series. | ||||||
| As many Rally Drivers do, April made the transition to Stage Rally in 2005, running the Tabor Rally Team's Geo Metro to a 3rd Place National Points Event, the Oregon Trail Pro Rally held around Vernonia/Tillamook in Oregon. | ||||||
| She continues to hone her skills in many forms of racing including, in addition to Drag, Drag Motorcycle, Rally Cross, Stage Rally... Carting and Road Course Racing. | ||||||
